In the eyes of a child

This is just a little test post.

I need to change the backgrounds to fit my theme whatever it will be. I haven't really decided yet. But I thought I would share this image again. I haven't used Blogger in a long long time and this was just one of my most favorite images of the summer.

My new co-workers told me about a family of owls living outside in the courtyard between our building and the next one. I went out to look and saw the mamma owl up in the tree. She was looking down at me apparently and moving her head around like owls do. Not too far from her was the baby owlet. He was about half her size but I couldn't get a good look.

Two days later, I went out to see if the owl was there and I couldn't see either of them. I was about to turn and walk back in when something caught my eye in the bushes. There was the baby owlet just sitting there still as could be. His huge eyes just looking at me. I was so surprised I actually said "Hellooo there." LOL I was just in shock at seeing such a beautiful creature so close up. I had to be a good 7 ft away but he never moved or blinked or anything. I look around but didn't see his mother. I ran back in for my camera, came back and he was still sitting there in the brush. None of the students had seen him or for sure they'd be harrassing the poor animal. I got within about 5 ft or so of the cute toddler and snapped this image.

Regardless, my co-workers were jealous of me the next day for this shot. They had been taking pics from the 3rd story catwalk between our bldg and the next one or else just zooming in as much as they could. I just feel badly that I forget to turn off the flash when I took the image. I hope I didn't blind the poor thing. I know they aren't very much for bright lights like mogwai and bats. ;)
