Pics of Misc

0On my photo journeys I find many things: Like these poor forgotten bananas some person thoughtlessly left to nature. They matured beyond their normal lifespan and became a charcoal black in color. Not sure if they were squishy... always hated these kinds of bananas. My grandmother had this way of letting bananas get spotted and darker than normal then offering them to me when I asked for a banana. LOL I was like "uhm, no thanks!" I was a picky little kid when it came to food... well if it looked funny maybe.

0I don't know what kind of fruit this is. I think I looked it up once. I'm not sure because Texas has so many odd little fruity trees and vines that aren't necessarily "edible" to people but animals can chow down when they need something to chew on. They turn from green to a purplish black color and get rather fat and have this top like a persimmon or something. They grow on a tree that looks like an oak... unless it is an oak and I just don't know any better. :P

0I wanted a pic of this snail shell on the tree. It's very tiny compared with the image. It's probably a third the size of a dime in size. I just found the location on the tree rather interesting and I was surprised how nice the picture itself came out. :)

0I didn't know what these were then the big boss said they were Plums aka Kumquats. They turn a nice rosey color when they ripen. :D I knew they were fruits and probably edible for people but I had no idea what kind. The flowers that grow in the late winter early spring are rather pretty and remind me of apple blossoms or sakura blooms. They're a beigey pinkish color with some creamy yellowish hues. I haven't gotten a nice image of them yet because they are so sparse when I do get a chance to take pics my camera won't focus right. If I find the pics of the blooms I'll add those. :D

In the eyes of a child

This is just a little test post.

I need to change the backgrounds to fit my theme whatever it will be. I haven't really decided yet. But I thought I would share this image again. I haven't used Blogger in a long long time and this was just one of my most favorite images of the summer.

My new co-workers told me about a family of owls living outside in the courtyard between our building and the next one. I went out to look and saw the mamma owl up in the tree. She was looking down at me apparently and moving her head around like owls do. Not too far from her was the baby owlet. He was about half her size but I couldn't get a good look.

Two days later, I went out to see if the owl was there and I couldn't see either of them. I was about to turn and walk back in when something caught my eye in the bushes. There was the baby owlet just sitting there still as could be. His huge eyes just looking at me. I was so surprised I actually said "Hellooo there." LOL I was just in shock at seeing such a beautiful creature so close up. I had to be a good 7 ft away but he never moved or blinked or anything. I look around but didn't see his mother. I ran back in for my camera, came back and he was still sitting there in the brush. None of the students had seen him or for sure they'd be harrassing the poor animal. I got within about 5 ft or so of the cute toddler and snapped this image.

Regardless, my co-workers were jealous of me the next day for this shot. They had been taking pics from the 3rd story catwalk between our bldg and the next one or else just zooming in as much as they could. I just feel badly that I forget to turn off the flash when I took the image. I hope I didn't blind the poor thing. I know they aren't very much for bright lights like mogwai and bats. ;)
